The students SORA card needs to be renewed before its expiration date. That is initially done through the NJ State Police website. Once the temporary ID number is issued, the applicant must take the 8 hour renewal course within a 30 day period. Once both of these steps have been completed, the student will receive their SORA card in the mail from the NJ State Police within 10 business days.
This standardized security officer program will review some the following topics:
• Ethics and Professional Conduct
• Report Writing
• NJ Use of Force Policy
• Street Gangs
• First Aid/CPR Awareness
• Incident Command Systems
• Cargo Theft
• Suspicious Letters and Packages
• Security Measures- Prevention and Deterrence
• Terrorism Awareness
Course Length: 8 hours
ALL STUDENTS MUST REGISTER 5 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE CLASS BY SENDING AN EMAIL THAT INCLUDES THEIR NAME, CONTACT INFORMATION AND TEMPORARY ID NUMBER. NO WALK-INS WILL BE ALLOWED. Students MUST have a photo ID in their possession, as well as their temporary ID number, on the day of the class.
